bhaptics introduces the new bhaptics X40 and X16 vest

The new bhaptics TactSuits, X40 and X16, have been announced by bhaptics and will be delivered exclusively within Europe by Unbound VR. Want to know more if these vests and what improvements they have over the original bhaptics vests? Then read our blog!

The TactSuit X40, like its predecessor, contains 40 individual haptic motors spread across the front and back of the vest. This allows you to feel up to a precise point where you are being hit. For example, are you playing a shooting game and getting shot from behind? Then you feel the haptic motors vibrate at the back. But the vest even reacts to ambient noise, so a grenade is fired in front of your feet; then you will feel the whole vest move! And because of the larger 9800 mAh battery, the vest lasts up to 18 hours of playtime.

TactSuit X16 is the somewhat smaller version of the TactSuit X40. with 16 built-in sensors, the haptic feedback is less accurate, but the vest lasts longer (± 22 hours of play time). Both vests work with with a Bluetooth 4.0 connection and are also compatible with audio-to-haptics solutions.

The TactSuit X16 is also somewhat shorter compared to with the X40. Because there are fewer sensors in the vest, the haptics can be placed a bit closer together and the vest can be used in a comfortable way while sitting (for example for gaming behind your desktop). For this reason, the bHaptics TactSuit X40 seems a bit more suitable for businesses and professional users, and the TactSuit X16 focuses more on Consumers.

In total, there are currently more than 20+ SteamVR titles that have bhaptics native support, including popular titles such as Onward, Thrill of the Fight and Sairento VR. Native support for Oculus Quest and Quest 2 is a bit more limited at the moment, but bhaptics indicates that they are working hard with to make Quest games compatible by default.

Audio to Haptics

The Audio-to-Haptics software provides a solution for users when a game is not supported by bhaptics. For example, a game like Beat Saber does not offer native support, but the game can still be played with with haptic feedback through the Audio-to-Haptics.

bHaptics TactSuit X40 and X16 will be available from December 16, 2020. By placing an order at Unbound VR you are assured of delivery from the first moment!
