The Best Free VR Games for Oculus Quest 2

The Oculus Quest 2 is one of the most popular VR headsets right now. And not without reason: the glasses can be used completely without an external computer and cables! These glasses are therefore the ultimate headset to experience virtual reality. But once you have the glasses; what games are you going to play?

In this blog we list our favorite VR games and experiences for the Oculus Quest 2. And best of all, the games are completely free in the Oculus App Store to download!

1. Anne Frank House VR

The first game in this list is Anne Frank House VR. This is actually more of an experience than a game. The serious subject of Anne Frank's past lays the foundation for this experience. In Anne Frank House VR you can visit, in virtual reality, the house where Anne Frank and 8 others went into hiding during the Second World War.

The house is completely recreated in virtual reality. Real reconstructions have been made for this, so that the experience feels very 'real'. Anne Frank House VR is therefore a must-do experience in our opinion for anyone who is using the Oculus Quest 2 for the first time.

2. Gravity Sketch

Gravity Sketch Fortunately, it's a slightly lighter game. It is a program that allows the user to create 3D artworks. Previously, this application was mainly used for product designers to put first prototypes of new products in a 3D environment, but now Gravity Sketch has grown into a universal platform for anyone who is creatively inclined.

3. Elixir

Of Elixir we arrive at the first 'game' in this list. Elixir is a creation of Facebook Reality Labs and shows well the applications of virtual reality and the functions of the Oculus Quest 2. In the game you are a wizard who ends up in a magical room. In this space you can do and touch all kinds of things, and you come to the craziest experiences.

Nice detail of Elixir is that the game is advanced in the field of hand tracking. As you may already know, the Oculus Quest 2 headset has built-in tracking sensors. These sensors normally register your Controllers, but also work with your own hands! Elixir is the perfect game to give this a try.

4. Echo VR

The first few games on this list are especially good games for getting a first virtual reality experience, but with Echo VR can you really start playing? Echo VR is perhaps Oculus' most famous game. Real E-sports competitions are organized around this game.

In short, Echo VR is a combination of Ultimate Frisbee in a weightless space. Especially when you play the game in a team with, for example, some friends, you can enjoy yourself for hours! And if you're good at it, you can always register for E-sports competitions!

5. Gorilla Tag

Gorilla Tag is exactly what the name suggests: you are a gorilla and must try to tag other gorillas. This sounds hilarious, and it is. The nice thing about Gorilla Tag is that the game is completely online and with a community. For example, you can meet up with friends in the same room, but you can also play a game with strangers.

In addition to fanatically playing tag, Gorilla Tag is also regularly used as a 'hangout'. You can also just meet up with some people in a room and talk quietly, without having to move too fanatically (comparable to, for example, VR Chat).

6. Epic Roller Coasters

Epic Roller Coaster is a fun VR game when you, or someone else, want to experience virtual reality for the first time. Take a ride on the roller coaster and experience a wild ride through the jungle, past zombies or underwater. Tip: always do this while sitting! When you stand up straight and you virtually sit on the roller coaster, you can quickly become nauseous. Some people can handle this better than others, so always test whether someone likes it before you let them finish an entire roller coaster.

7. Home After War

Just like Anne Frank House VR is Home After War a virtual reality experience that impresses. It shows in an impressive way what the after-effects are on the people who have experienced a war in their homeland. Home After War is a combination of a virtual simulated world where you can walk around and touch things yourself, and 'real life' 360 degree views and is definitely worth a try.

8. The Key

Last on this list The Key. The Key is a 20 minute film project that takes you on a journey into a magical, surreal world of dreams, challenges and difficult decisions. The beautiful virtual environment in combination with the interesting story make The Key must-do experience on the Oculus Quest 2.
