Virtuix Omni One: What we know so far

Get on the treadmill, buckle up, put on VR goggles and transport yourself to another dimension. This sounds like the plot of well-known Steven Spielberg movie Ready Player One, But nothing is less true! The Virtuix Omni One is the latest project from American developer Virtuix, known for one of the first (and most popular) VR treadmills at with name VR Arcades and other entertainment centers.

The Omni One is the follow-up to the popular Virtuix Omni Pro. with particularly taking into account with the fact that the Omni One is a lot smaller and more compact. It also seems that players can move a lot more freely in the Omni One than was possible in the Omni Pro. Where in the Omni Pro you were still attached to a sturdy ring around your waist, you step with the Omni One into a kind of harness that is reminiscent of the vest of bhaptics (such as the bhaptics X40). Imagine; run around in the virtual world and also feel it when you get hit! It doesn't get more realistic than that.

Tundra

The biggest advantage of a VR treadmill is the fact that you can move around completely 360 degrees without needing the physical space. You can run, jump, crawl and spin without being a danger to others - or accidentally bumping into the wall. This is one of the reasons why a VR treadmill is a much sought after attribute in the VR Arcade world.

But what is most striking about the Omni One is that the product can simply be placed in the living room. While the Virtuix Omni Pro had to have the with name of the professional gaming industry, it will soon be possible to place the with Omni One in your bedroom or man cave! The price also seems to be here. Where comparable VR treadmills quickly run into the thousands of euros (and you often also need a very powerful PC), the Virtuix Omni One can be purchased for an (expected) price of 95 (note, this price may differ from the final European sales price). In addition, the Omni One is fully compatible with the Pico Neo 2 Headset (and perhaps when the Omni One comes on the market also with other Standalone VR glasses), so you no longer need an external PC.

In addition to a number of VR games developed by Virtuix, it is also possible to play other well-known games with on the Omni One treadmill. For example, there are already a lot of mods that allow, for example, GTA 5 and Team Fortress 2 to be played on the Virtuix Omni treadmill.

Although with we are very curious about the Virtuix Omni One. It is not yet known when the release date of this product is, but we can't wait to strap ourselves in and run around on the Omni One!
