HTC new expected headsets: VIVE Pro 2 and VIVE Focus 3

HTC's new hardware appears to be aimed entirely at companies and business users, such as location-based entertainment venues and developers.

HTC plans to announce two new HTC headsets at the Vivecon event (May 11 and 12): the HTC VIVE Pro 2 and the HTC VIVE Focus 3 [[ MD5_10]]. Both VR headsets are fully aimed at enterprises - and can therefore be purchased including a business warranty. We expect the VIVE Focus 3 to come standard with this business warranty, and the VIVE Pro 2 to offer it as an option. Both new headsets are expected to be available in May 2021.

HTC

For some time there have been pictures in which HTC teases the new VR headsets. By showing small parts of the Headset, a real hype has arisen around the new headsets. Where many VR enthusiasts still hoped for a strong competitor for the Oculus Quest 2 - Oculus is part of Facebook, which for many users a deal breaker is - unfortunately the new headsets are not aimed at the Consumer after all. HTC itself seems to indicate that the headsets with name will be suitable for "working in Virtual reality". Whether this is also the case with the new VIVE Pro 2 remains to be seen. In any case, we hope that the Headset will be a good successor to the original HTC VIVE and VIVE Pro, so that the Headset is still good in VR Arcade environments can be used.

Ready to work in Virtual Reality?

Nevertheless, HTC has often indicated that it is also working on with separate Standalone VR glasses that can directly compete with with the Oculus Quest 2. A few weeks ago, HTC won the coveted one iF Design Award for a (still) non-existent VR glasses: the VIVE Air. However, HTC subsequently indicated that this was only a concept Headset, but that "the design language and elements are a source of inspiration for the upcoming VR headsets".

VIVE Air

HTC appears to be focusing on companies and business users in the near future, such as location-based entertainment venues and developers. This seems like a logical choice, as Oculus seems to be completely dominating the consumer market right now. Whether HTC will focus on Consumers at a later stage remains to be seen. For now, we'll have to wait for the Vivecon event to get more Information about the new headsets and the future of HTC VIVE.
